Best practice corporate governance reporting (2008)

To help boards ensure that their reporting of corporate governance accurately communicates their commitment to strong corporate governance, PwC has released its fourth compendium, 'Best practice corporate governance reporting'.

This publication is a repository of good practice examples of corporate governance reporting, featuring extracts from the annual reports of FTSE 350 companies for reporting periods ending December 2007 or later. The compendium has proved to be a useful tool in assisting companies with their reporting under the Combined Code.

Recent surveys have shown that good corporate governance leads to improved business performance.

The quality and clarity of reporting through the next cycle are going to be critical for all businesses, regardless of their size, sector, business success and financial stability. Getting the balance and tone of what is disclosed right, given the fragility of the market, is not going to be easy. It is important for boards to think about the unintended consequences of what is said and how it is said.
