Our Thinking

The conclusions of the IASB Discussion Paper on Management Commentary are entirely consistent with our own thinking on narrative reporting and there is significant common ground between the disclosure framework for narrative reporting proposed in the IASB paper and our own Corporate Reporting Framework.

It is important to note that, like the proposals in the IASB paper, the Corporate Reporting Framework is indeed a ‘framework’, rather than a prescriptive information set or template. The information that investors need from each company will differ depending on the industries in which it operates, the external climate at the time of reporting, the specific strategies adopted by the particular company, and its ability to deliver the promised outcomes. With this in mind, our Corporate Reporting Framework has been designed from first principles as a highly practical framework that can be tailored to any industry and further tailored to an individual company - see our Industry Frameworks.
